LogicSim 3.3 FAQ

This FAQ is intended to answer non-technical questions, in particular topics related to sales and support.
LogicSim is the most affordable and powerful IEEE 1364-2001 Verilog simulator that runs on Windows platform. Our long term plan is to extend support for VHDL and SystemVerilog, as well as Linux platform. It's useful for anyone who wish to do ASIC and FPGA design verification.
Currently only Windows platform is supported. Linux support is scheduled for LogicSim 4.0, however we plan to rollout a Linux support as in a command-line simulator first.
Currently only Verilog is supported. However VHDL or SystemVerilog support is scheduled for v4.0. Our ultimate goal is to develop a single kernel mixed-languages logic simulator. So, stay tuned.
Yes. LogicSim comes with FREE LIFETIME UPGRADE, which means you will receive all future upgrade of LogicSim for free forever.
All of our trial products are fully functional without any feature limitation or performance slowdown, however purchase is required upon 30-day expiry date.
LogicSim has been tested on more than 5000 Verilog unit test cases, hence we can confidently proclaim it as an industry strength Verilog simulator. However, bugs do exist, as in any other software in the world. The best way to know if LogicSim can meet your verification needs is to try our 30-day free trial first before making purchase.
Perpetual. In other words, you own the software you purchase indefinitely, no renewal is required. You can continue receiving free upgrade for life. You own a perpetual license for the free upgrade as well.
Depends on the volume, please contact us for further information.
You can't order a CD-ROM. In order to keep our distribution cost low, the Internet is the only medium by which LogicSim is made available. We have designed LogicSim with a very small footprint to enable us to do this.
If you are willing to compile the simulator source code by yourself, customer support is not important, simulation speed and accuracy are also not a factor, you don't mind working in command-line only environment, you can bear with the lack of documentation, and you don't need additional debugging tools, then we would recommend you Icarus Verilog.
On the other hand, if you're looking for a simulator with 24x7 customer support, full online documentation, forum discussion, quick bug fixes, easy installation package, user-friendly IDE, fast simulation speed and very accurate simulation result, and you don't mind forking out a hundred bucks for a perpetual license that comes with free upgrade for up to 1 year, then LogicSim is for you.
If you're looking for a matured simulator that's offered by one of the Big 3 (Cadence, Synopsys and Mentor), you need first class customer support which you have a personal sales representative and an application engineer at your disposal, you can bear with long turnaround time for bug fixes, and most importantly you don't mind paying $20,000 for an annual license fee, then we would recommend you ModelSim.
On the other hand, if your budget is limited and you still need a stable and good simulator where you can get instant response to your problems, 24x7 customer support, rich documentation, easy to install, user-friendly IDE, fast simulation speed and very accurate simulation result, and you don't mind forking out a hundred bucks for a perpetual license that comes with free upgrade for up to 1 year, and further discount for bulk purchase, then LogicSim is for you.
Definitely not because others are better. Mainly, there are four reasons why our simulator is more affordable than others.
- Firstly, our business model is totally based on the Internet. We do not have expensive salesmen and distributors, so we save a lot on commissions.
- Secondly, we do not have expensive CEO, CFO, and Corporate lawyers on our paycheck. Our company is privately owned by its employees, and choose not to accept VC money, so our team is small but nimble.
- Thirdly, we do not spend a single cent on mass marketing such as billboards, magazine ads, printing brochures, and product catalogs, you can get everything you need from our website 24x7, fully updated.
- Lastly, all the money we save will be used to reduce the cost of your purchase as we believe that ASIC and FPGA design verification should not come at a high price.
Does all this mean compromise in software quality and customer support? Absolutely no. We take all our R&D investment and customer support seriously. Many customers praise us for having better customer services and faster response time than those of established EDA companies.
